His Wicked Dream Velvet Lies Book 2 edition by Adrienne deWolfe Romance eBooks

I finished this book several weeks ago and waited before writing my review. For me writing reviews are not easy no matter how much I loved the book. After finally reading the books in this series (still waiting on book 4 to be published) I can honestly say some authors write with passion, some write passion into the books while a few authors take passion to a new level. Adrienne is an author that takes that passion to a new level.

I have never met Adrienne but we have spoke by email several times. When I ask her for a guest post to go along with my review she was happy to provide. After reading over the guest post anyone will see that her passion is not just in books, she carries that passion to anything she writes. She has become an auto buy for me. If Adrienne publishes a book then I will be first in line (or clicking) just to have a copy.

Starting out readers learn Michael has been in a fight. His lip is bleeding, one eye is swelling shut, raw knuckles and possibly broken or bruised ribs. Michaels thought about brute force is so very true.

----- It didn't take courage to bring a man to his knees. It only took brute force.

Readers are given a glimpse of Michael and his thoughts / feelings. To most people he looks to be a broken man. Someone who believes he is unworthy of anything, someone who thinks it is better to hid than try and work past his troubles.
Michael wished he could say he was ashamed of busting the chops of a drunkard with a grade-school education. But ever since God had forced him to bury Gabriel two years ago, he'd welcomed opportunities to break the Commandments.

I really question the type of man or man of God Michael's father was. For Jedidiah Jones he blamed Michael for Gabriel's death. For this reader if he was really a man of God and followed what he preached he would realize that Michael was not responsible for anything.

----- "Laggard!" Jedidiah Jones had railed, his forefinger trembling. "I send you to school to make your brother well, and what do you do? You snore through his death throes!"

My favorite character, Collie is prominent in book 2. He is really just a kid but it seems everyone is more interested in changing him than helping him. May Adrienne will grace fans with a fifth book features Colin and a lady love who changes him. A reader can hope.

Readers are introduces to Bonnie early in chapter one. From the start I had a problem liking Bonnie. She is very manipulative. It seems she is only concerned with what she wants and it does not matter who might be hurt in the process.

Eden the stories heroine makes a big entrance. She shows strength and courage when other females swoon from the excitement. While other females would worry about getting dirt on their dresses Eden moves thru debris to make sure the child is not hurt.

----- "Jamie, honey," she panted, wading past splintered barrels, dripping egg yolks, and seeping pickle juice. "Jamie, are you hurt?"

Early in the story Michael's thoughts are revealed. He thinks he is dying. No other details are given. When I reached the part where Eden figures out what is actually wrong with Michael I had to laugh. Not because he is not a good doctor, he is a man. The average man that believes he is almost indestructible.

This was another enjoyable read. The characters were fully developed with a story that will keep readers entertained. I highly recommend this to romance readers.

Once again thank you for another great read Adrienne.

The bunnies and I give this book 5 carrots.

His Wicked Dream Velvet Lies Book 2 edition by Adrienne deWolfe Romance eBooks Reviews

I was hopeful that the story would end as it did. But as with most stories it ended to soon for me!
Eden Mallory, the medicine man's daughter, and Michael Jones, the doctor in town, knew they had seen each other before but where? Love story is caring, family involved and a good read.
Adrienne deWolfe is so talented at creating multidimensional characters! Even the secondary characters in His Wicked Dream are well developed, lovable, and have an interesting side story going on. I loved Michael and Eden! The way the story comes together at the end is delightful! I couldn't put this book down!!
This story was just ok. I liked all the characters except Michael. He was dying (he thought) so he kept his wife at a distance. He was very cold to her . He thought this would help her find someone else after he died. He was a real dork. I hope the next book of this series is better.
The secondary characters were more interesting than the h/h. Michael was so stubborn you just wanted to kick him. He thought he was dying and behaved in ways that defied commonsense. Didn't like him near as much as his brother, Rafe, from the first of the series. He has erotic dreams (for 8 years) of the girl he met for all of 15 minutes and then meets her in the flesh. That whole situation was so unbelievable. Eden was likeable enough, fiesty, determined and all that. The writing is good, there are funny moments and a bunch of silliness, which I liked. Unfortunately Michael and Eden fell flat to me. I will read Seraphina's story.
Adrienne deWolfe's tale of a tortured, broken hero and the gifted, winsome heroine who loves him will keep you up all night reading. From the first scene, I was drawn in and taken on a breathtaking ride with adventure, well-fleshed out secondary characters, historical detail that made me feel I was really there, and exciting twists and turns that kept her characters busy from page-to-page. I wholeheartedly recommend this book and look forward to reading more of her delectable, historical stories.
This was a good read, but not as good as the first book in the series. There were a few holes that were left open. The relationship between the brothers for one, obviously Sera's relationships were left open because her book is next, but the book just kind of ended, in my opinion. Like not wrapped up. The story between our main characters was resolved of course but the secondary characters were left without enough resolution for me.
All that being said, it was still a good read and I will be moving on to the next. I had reservations about liking Michael in this book from the way he was portrayed in the first book but I am happy to say he was very likable )
I wouldn't miss this book in the series, while not my favourite, I'm still glad I read it.
